Sochi is located at the eastern part of the Black Sea. It is also the most southern city in Russia with a population of about 415,000 people. Sochi is host of the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Sochi is also known as the summer capital of Russia or the Black Sea Pearl. Sochi attracts 4,000,000 visitors each year, including celebrities and the political elite of the country. It is predominantly a domestic destination, but that will change quickly. Sochi has awesome mountains, endless pebbled beaches, warm sunny days and a terrific nightlife. Sochi is a summer resort, Sochi enjoys 300 sunny days annually, and a winter resort, the climate of the mountainous part of Greater Sochi allows for a full ski season in winter. Krasnaya Polyana is quickly developing as a winter resort.
